What do I need to do to launch BODYPUMP HEAVY on my timetable?
It’s super easy for you to get onboard with this new evolution in strength training. You can add BODYPUMP HEAVY to your timetable for free from January 1 2026 (there will be no license costs until March 31 2026). We’ve created a full suite of launch assets to make promotion simple – download the launch assets here.
Your Instructors will be all set to lead the workouts – we’re gifting all BODYPUMP Instructors access to the first release and setting them up with upskilling to help them confidently teach – all for no cost.
Should I run BODYPUMP HEAVY and BODYPUMP?
Yes, running both together is strongly recommended because BODYPUMP builds endurance strength while BODYPUMP HEAVY provides progression with heavier lifting, giving members a complete strength journey and reducing the risk of plateau or dropout.
Together, the two programs create a strength continuum that keeps members engaged for longer.
Do I need to advertise this as a different program
on my timetable?
Yes, BODYPUMP HEAVY should be listed separately from BODYPUMP on your timetable so members understand it is a distinct class designed for heavier lifting and progression.
How do I teach my team the difference between
BODYPUMP HEAVY and BODYPUMP so they can educate members?
All active BODYPUMP Instructors will automatically receive certification, the first release, and an education video that explains the coaching differences. You can find out more in our implementation guide.
Do we have to wait until January 2026 to launch BODYPUMP HEAVY?
We know you’re excited about bringing this new program to life. If your club is ready to launch BODYPUMP HEAVY prior to January 2026, go for it!
What equipment is required?
BODYPUMP HEAVY requires SMARTBAR™ sets with a full range of plates, ideally including 1kg, 2.5kg, 3.7kg, 5kg, 7.5kg and 10kg options. This will allow safe incremental loading and progression for all members. While other studio strength equipment can be used, it may have a lower weight limit on the bar (generally group fitness barbells have a max load of up to 40kgs, the SMARTBAR can be loaded to 45kgs).
What’s the difference between how BODYPUMP HEAVY and STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT
help members achieve their goals?
BODYPUMP HEAVY is tempo-focused training coached to the beat, creating progression through time under tension with heavy loads and long recovery periods. STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT is off-beat, self-paced training built around mechanical tension, metabolic conditioning, and functional strength blocks. BODYPUMP HEAVY enhances group cohesion and progression, whereas STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT feels more like a strength clinic.
Can any Instructors teach this program or do they need special training?
Only certified BODYPUMP Instructors can teach BODYPUMP HEAVY during the preview period. From November they will be granted automatic certification and provided supporting education sessions to teach until March 2026.
